Located within Yoho National Park in British Columbia, Wapta Falls is a breathtaking waterfall along the Kicking Horse River. As one of the largest waterfalls in the park, it cascades an impressive 98 feet (30 meters) high and spans 490 feet (150 meters) wide, creating a mesmerizing display of rushing water and mist. I would call this a mini Niagara Falls, the sound just roared and you got soaked from the mist alone.
To get to the falls its a relatively easy and scenic 2.3-mile (round trip) hike. This was our favorite off the beaten path visits while in the Yoho / Banff National Park area.
Here is the view from on top of the falls. The mound below the waterfall is where you can hike too.

Here is another photo as we get closer to the falls.

The mist and the sun are the recipe for a rainbow!

Short video of the falls

You can get pretty close, so you need to be careful, as they are pretty powerful.

Another short video from another viewing point.
This waterfall nested back in Yoho is a nice little surprise. As I mentioned before, this was our favorite off the beaten path sites and you wont find it on many travel recommendations sites. Hope you enjoy Wapta Falls as much as we did.
