2025 Homelab setup and upgrade to Dell R530

I wanted to share another homelab update and wrap up what I worked on this year. Last year I mentioned that a server upgrade was on my wishlist, and I finally made that happen earlier this year. I was able to replace my HP DL380 G8 with a Dell R530, which turned out to be a significant upgrade across the board. The newer hardware has been more efficient, quieter, and better suited for my current virtualization and storage needs.

Outside of the server upgrade, the homelab has been luckily stable. Everything has been running reliably, and there really has not been a strong reason to make any other major changes. At this point, the focus has shifted more toward maintaining what I have rather than constantly tweaking hardware.

Looking ahead, I would like to spend more time writing about some of the software and networking pieces of my setup. My Home Assistant configuration and my Ubiquiti wireless access point setup are two areas I have not documented yet. Hopefully I will have time to turn those into new posts this year.
