Finally New Wheels for the Truck

Introduction

I’ve been wanting to upgrade the wheels on my truck for a while now, and with the tires showing their age, I figured it was finally time to bite the bullet (pun not intended). The old Eagle Alloy 5-spokes had served me well for over 25 years, but they were starting to show their age, and let’s be honest, the style just wasn’t cutting it anymore. It was time to give the truck a fresh look with something bigger, bolder, and more fitting.

Other considerations

I did look at a few other options, decided against them for various reason, either it be cost, size, color, shape, or just didn’t like them

  • American Racing – Nova
  • Ridler – 606
  • Ridler – 652
  • US Mags – Desperado
  • US Mags – Hustler
  • US Mags – Rambler
  • Weld – Ventura

Final Thoughts

I’m really happy with the new look! I had originally been searching for an upgraded 5-spoke design, and while these aren’t technically 5-spokes, the style really hits the mark. The ride quality definitely improved a bit. To be fair, I was running 20-year-old tires, so that probably had a lot to do with it. Then again, squarebodies were never known for riding smooth in the first place. I think there’s still room in the rear for wider tires, but I’m pretty sure a 5×11 would’ve been pushing it too far.
