I was in the market for a pair of over-ear headphones to mix things up from my usual Apple AirPods Pro. They’ve been great for everyday use, but I wanted something more comfortable for longer sessions without spending hundreds on premium headphones.
That’s what led me to the Anker Soundcore Q20i, and honestly, I’ve been really impressed with what you get for the price. List price is $69.99 and regularly on sale for $39.99.

Why I bought these?
I was mainly looking for a pair of over-ear headphones for travel and mowing the lawn. Nothing fancy, nothing top-of-the-line. Just something reliable that gets the job done.
I didn’t need studio-level sound or premium materials. I just wanted comfort, decent sound, and some noise canceling at a reasonable price.

First Impressions
Right out of the box, setup was quick and painless. They connected easily to my iPhone 17 Pro Max without any issues.
The first thing I noticed was how comfortable they are. They don’t squeeze your head, but still feel secure. The ear cups have a soft foam that sits nicely around your ears, which makes a big difference during longer use. Overall, they feel simple but well put together. Nothing flashy, but doesn’t feel cheap either.

I also appreciate that they’re lightweight enough to wear for hours without fatigue, and the simple, durable design makes them easy to throw in a bag for travel or outdoor use.
Sound Quality
I’m not an audiophile, but for everyday listening, these sound really good.
You get solid bass, clear mids, and decent highs. Nothing feels overly boosted or muddy, which is exactly what I was hoping for in this price range.
I haven’t done a direct side-by-side comparison with other over-ear headphones, but having used Bose and Sennheiser in the past, the Q20i definitely hold their own. While newer premium models may have improved, these offer impressive quality for just 20–30% of the price.
One thing worth mentioning is that over-ear headphones naturally block more noise than earbuds, and you can definitely tell here. When you turn on noise canceling, it does a noticeable job of reducing background sounds like a TV or dishwasher. It doesn’t completely eliminate noise, but it makes everything quieter and lets your music come through much clearer.
I didn’t end up using the Soundcore app, since the headphones sounded good to me right out of the box. If you are looking to tweak EQ settings or adjust modes its available, but I never felt the need to mess with it.
Battery Life
The Q20i are rated for up to 40 hours with noise canceling on and up to 60 hours without it.
I haven’t fully tested those limits yet, but so far battery life has been solid and hasn’t been something I’ve had to think about much. I’ll plan to update this section once I’ve had more long-term use.
Final Thoughts
So far, these have been exactly what I was looking for. They’re comfortable, sound good, and offer useful noise canceling without breaking the bank. If you’re in a similar spot, coming from earbuds and just wanting an affordable over-ear option, these are definitely worth considering.
