First Impressions
Right out of the box, setup was quick and painless. They connected easily to my iPhone 17 Pro Max without any issues.
The first thing I noticed was how comfortable they are. They don’t squeeze your head, but still feel secure. The ear cups have a soft foam that sits nicely around your ears, which makes a big difference during longer use. Overall, they feel simple but well put together. Nothing flashy, but they don’t feel cheap either.
I also appreciate that they’re lightweight enough to wear for hours without fatigue, and the simple, durable design makes them easy to throw in a bag for travel or outdoor use.
Anker Soundcore Q20i Sound Quality
I’m not an audiophile, but for everyday listening, but these sound really good.
You get solid bass, clear mids, and decent highs. Nothing feels overly boosted or muddy, which is exactly what I was hoping for in this price range.
I haven’t done a direct side-by-side comparison with other over-ear headphones, but having used Bose and Sennheiser in the past, the Q20i definitely hold their own. While newer premium models may offer better sound and features, I think the Q20i provide surprisingly good quality for a fraction of the price.
One thing worth mentioning is that over-ear headphones naturally block more noise than earbuds, and you can definitely tell with the Q20i. I’ve used them while mowing the lawn and on airplanes, and the noise canceling does a great job of reducing louder background noises, although it isn’t quite as effective against quieter sounds like a dishwasher. They work especially well on airplanes. You can almost forget you’re on one until you take the headphones off.
I didn’t end up using the Soundcore app, since the headphones sounded good to me right out of the box.If you want to tweak the EQ settings or adjust the listening modes, the app is available, but I never felt the need to use it.
Battery Life
The Q20i are rated for up to 40 hours with noise canceling on and up to 60 hours without it. In my experience, battery life has been excellent. I’ve been using them regularly and, with normal charging, I haven’t actually managed to run the battery completely dead yet. For my use, battery life definitely hasn’t been something I’ve had to worry about.
Final Thoughts
So far, these have been exactly what I was looking for. They’re comfortable, sound good, have excellent battery life, and offer useful noise canceling without breaking the bank. At their regular sale price of around $39.99, I think the Q20i are an easy recommendation for anyone looking for an affordable pair of over-ear headphones.
