Blackberry email update

January 12th, 2009 | Posted by tonyscha in Blackberry | Technology - (6 Comments)

So I posted a couple of days ago that Kayla and I got blackberry’s. Its a Blackberry curve 8310. So far I really enjoy it. It has internet and will do email, IM’s, and everything else you want a mobile phone to do.

My biggest problem is blackberry’s crappy integration with gmail.  I cant find a happy median. There seems to be serveral ways to do it.

  1. Use blackberry’s email client and just use there special setup. Its a mix of pop3 and imap. My problem is when you read something on your blackberry or gmail, it doesn’t show up as read on the other.  And when I send an email from my gmail web account, it would show up on my blackberry.
  2. Use Blackberry and gmails IMAP email. But email isnt instant push to your phone.
  3. The previous current setup I got from here. You basically setup a blackberry email address forward your gmail to it, and setup a few filters.
  4. Use the gmail app but it doesnt do instant push to the phone either.

I am not happy with any of them. I will have to update what I will do in the future… Come on gmail and blackberry work together!!!

edit:

I went back to solution 1, I was using 3, but then I couldn’t delete any of my mail, since I don’t send out that many emails, I figured getting a few extra on my blackberry.

Next time, I am going to post my favorite blackberry apps.

Happy New Year

January 1st, 2009 | Posted by tonyscha in Personal - (0 Comments)

Alright its officially 2009 now, and I would like to write a new post to roll in the new year with. Since Kayla and I have never went out for News Years, we got a babysitter and we went to the Cedar Rapids Piano Lounge. They had a piano duels which was pretty good. Since we didn’t get a seat right away, we stood toward the back, and at the table right in front of us was some Lesbians… Never seen so many girls kiss. Kayla would want me to make sure I mention how drunk she was… but she was just annoying, I only had to tell her to shut up once in the car. Other then that… it has been a pretty easy going day. So Hope you had a great New Year’s and a Happy 2009.

Screen Door

December 28th, 2008 | Posted by tonyscha in Personal - (0 Comments)

I installed my first screen door today. Started off by putting down all the seats in the Benz, went to Menards, shoved it in the car, because it barely fit, and brought it home… I didn’t start unboxing the door until 3:30, and finished about 7:30. Something that should be started earlier then 3:30 in the winter, when it gets dark at 5. I didn’t realize that I would be drilling that much, and my drill battery couldn’t handle it, so had to make a stop at Walmart and get a drill. But now that I am finally done, except I need to add the hydraulic yet… Figured that can wait until tomorrow. In all it was a fun experience, cant wait to start the basement.

Just an Update

December 17th, 2008 | Posted by tonyscha in Personal - (0 Comments)

Just thought I would say Hi. Not much going on here other then a little snow. Its suppose to snow/sleet/ice or something really bad tomorrow. Kayla got a mp3 player, maybe she should write a review about her Sansa Fuze. I got 2 more days until winter shutdown at work, Then I will have two weeks off, yippie.

My dog is officially a sissy, she will hold her paws up when outside in the snow… its funny.

I hooked up my 22 inch monitor, along side my 17inch monitor, a bit overkill for at home, but its nice.

I am contemplating graduate school from ISU. Well see how motivated I am.

Thats all folks.

Acer 22″ Widescreen LCD Monitor

December 7th, 2008 | Posted by tonyscha in Technology - (0 Comments)

I went out and bought a new monitor, a Acer 22″ Widescreen LCD ( AL2216W ). Its a pretty nice monitor. Seems to be about 1.5 times bigger then my 17″. I know you all want to know the specifications 😉

1680 x 1050 Resolution
700:1 Contract Ratio
5ms Response Time
DVI-D (HDCP)

So I didn’t have a chance to compare it at the stores, because BestBuy didn’t even have a display setup. But its so much nicer then my old monitor. The hardest thing is getting use to the widescreen, this is the first time I have used a widescreen for my desktop. So I would recommend this monitor for 169.99

Thanksgiving

December 7th, 2008 | Posted by tonyscha in Personal - (0 Comments)

So I may be a week late, but figured I would post anyway. We went back for thanksgiving, and Kayla and I separated our ways and went to our families thanksgiving. Its crazy going back, all my cousins are getting so old… and married lol. On friday and Saturday, Kayla and I went to the Bars in Yankton, SD, and meet up with an old friend of ours. Then on the way back from yankton we finished in Bloomfield, NE both nights. We also made a pit(drink) stop in Crofton, NE on Saturday. Crofton is the place were Kayla and I originally meet. It was nice to get out and enjoy some time to ourselves. I would also like to mention Kayla got trashed on Saturday, I am surprised she didn’t get the brown bottle flu. We were going to come back Saturday, but seen it was snowing, so we decided to stay another day. Well it was a horrible drive. The interstate was covered in ICE from Des Moines,IA to Iowa City, IA. Slow and steady and we made it… but seen to many cars in the ditch for my liking. We did stop in Clive,IA for Qdoba. They have some awesome Three Cheese Queso. I had a Pork Burrito, it wasn’t as good as the burritos in Rapid City, SD at Qdoba, or it could be I have been eating Panchero’s Burritos. So yeah… that was my crazy Thanksgiving weekend.

Sick but not Sick

November 21st, 2008 | Posted by tonyscha in Technology - (0 Comments)

What a week, I almost stayed home 3 full days of work for Alexis,  the first day was pink eye, then Thursday she had a fever, so I had to stay home with her for 24 hours. On Tuesday Kayla and Abigail were both sick. I have been fine so far, knock knock on some wood. Everyone is feeling better now.

Tonight we went  Christmas shopping… spent way to much money, atleast the toy’r’us people have jobs. Its crazy when you have to buy Birthday and Christmas presents for two kids at the same time.

I was trying to tell Kayla what I wanted for Christmas, so I will put it here because she will never read it… hehe

Orange Box

Rubix Cube… even if I will never figure it out

and probably anything technology related but I can only think of 1 thing, a cell phone.

On the technology side of things, I installed WIndows XP on my Desktop. Kayla made fun of me, but I wanted to be able to play games hehe. But I can claim I want to program in c# which is much easier under visual studios. I still have linux installed but I haven’t used it yet.

Also Xbox updated their dashboard… I am unsure of I like the changes. I wish I had netflix, so I could checkout the netflix player. But when I have a HTPC it doesn’t really matter. Check out the new xbox experiance here.

Also for you gmail users, check out the themes.  The terminal theme is my favorite.

Oh what a crazy and great halloween. We carved pumpkins, and I made a puking pumpkin, I thought it turned out good.

This was our kitty litter cake…… it was good. Here is the recipe if your interested.

And some pictures of us all dressed up as The Morning after Prom.
